Plainly PutFamily communication, explained simply

Editorial Policy

How Plainly Put decides what to publish, and what to do when we get something wrong.

What we publish

General educational reporting on child development and family communication, aimed at a non-specialist adult reader. We do not publish personalised advice, and we do not diagnose.

Sourcing

Claims about research name the finding and, where it matters, its limits — sample size, age range, whether it has been replicated. A single study is reported as a single study. We avoid the construction "studies show" when what we mean is "one study suggested".

Independence

No article is paid for, sponsored, or shown to an outside party before publication. We accept no affiliate commission and hold no commercial relationship with any programme or practitioner we mention.

Corrections

Errors of fact are corrected as soon as they are confirmed, with a note at the foot of the article recording what changed and when. We do not edit silently. Clarifications that do not change meaning are made without a note.

Who writes here

Our contributors are editors and reporters, not clinicians. Where an article draws on clinical or academic expertise, the source is named in the text rather than implied by a byline.

Reader contact

Corrections, questions and complaints go to editors@get3words.com and are read by a person.
